Second-Meal Healing Bowls For Cats And Dogs

Healing Bowls are meals that offer a wide range of antioxidants, polyphenols, macro minerals, trace minerals, phytochemical compounds, vitamins, other nutrients, glucose, enzymes, amino acids, antiviral compounds, antibacterial compounds, and antiparasitical compounds that play a role in your dog’s or cat’s ability to rejuvenate, heal, and maintain.

Many pet caregivers feed their animal more than once a day. In many situations, the second meal of the day doesn’t necessarily need to have an animal staple such as meat, because the earlier meal of the day may have had that animal-product staple, such as beef or chicken, as you’ll see in the Simple, Balanced, and Medicinal Healing Bowl information and examples in Medical Medium Healing Your Pet.

Dogs and cats should not be vegan. This doesn’t mean they can’t have vegetarian, plant-based, or pescatarian meals incorporated into their overall diet. If a meal earlier in the day incorporated meat or poultry, a dog’s or cat’s second meal of the day can be vegetarian or incorporate a fish product.

The base for this type of second-meal healing bowl can be one of these many choices: potato, sweet potato, winter squash, white or brown rice, millet, quail egg, sardine, salmon, mackerel, green peas, carrot, brussels sprout.

Then, you can add other foods to this base, either mashed together by hand or ground up in the food processor.

Here are some healing bowls without meat or poultry as their staple. These are balanced with higher carbohydrate levels to help compensate for any loss of animal products in the meal. Some are vegetarian and plant-based, some are pescatarian. They could be great second-meal healing bowls:

• Sweet potato, millet, asparagus, cilantro, raspberry

• Potato, wild blueberries, green beans, cauliflower, broccoli

• Carrot, green beans, asparagus, cabbage, ground flaxseed

• Cooked sardine, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, wild blueberries

• Salmon, red cabbage, artichoke heart, raspberry, blackberry, ground chia seed

Find out how to assemble Healing Bowls for your pet, and how to customize the ingredients for your pet’s specific health needs, including how to help your pet detoxify and address deficiencies so they can heal, in Healing Your Pet. You’ll also find important guidance on preparing and serving each healing food to your dog or cat as well as critical portion guidance.
